If you have spent any time with me, you know that I am a big believer in setting goals. I create weekly, monthly, and annual goals. I make lists of goals. I set deadlines for my goals. I learned how to set goals from Mary Kay Ash and Zig Ziglar.
I was so excited to find the following video of Zig Ziglar discussing his goal-setting formula.
The Zig Ziglar goal setting formula:
Identify the obstacles that will need to be overcome
Identify the people or groups you will need to work with
Determine what you need to know
Determine “What's in it for me.”
“Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude.” Zig Ziglar
What goals have you set for your business? You should set sales goals, profit goals, marketing goals like how many raving fans you will have. Set goals for the amount of traffic you want to go to your website, etc.
Not sure how to set your goals or maybe you are having trouble reaching them? Let's talk about it.
Post Update:
It was super exciting to spend a day in the Zig Ziglar offices in Dallas, TX. I was honored to meet the entire Ziglar family and spend time visiting with Mrs. Ziglar. It was also exciting to be in the Ziglar studio.
After Brian Tracy, Zig Ziglar is such an inspiration who I truly admire. I really love the book – Better Than Good: Creating a Life You Can’t Wait to Live.
Thank you for sharing that video Michele 🙂
If your working with a client, then you need to add another one which is “what’s in it for them”. By doing so you give yourself something for your portfolio too.
Hi Michele –
I know that you wrote this during the summer, but I am in the process of getting my 2011 goals in order. I knew you had a category for ‘Goals’ so I came back and read them! As usual, great info! Zig is one of my favorites – I have his CD set on Setting Goals that I listen to over and over – amazingly, each time I listen to them, they change! I swear someone changes those CDs each time I hear them! LOL
I am not sure what your Blogging schedule/topics are for the rest of the year (9 days and counting) but have you considered one last Goal Setting post?
Be Well & have a wonderful holiday season!
Paul.
