You know what a time suck is, right? Those things business owners do that take up time but don’t grow your business. I asked small business owners what they thought sucked most of their time.
Here are the top 7 time suck:
#1 – Working on your website
#2 – Rewriting your signature talk
#3 – Creating products you have not yet sold (this was my own addition to the list)
#4 – Overthinking things
#5 – Checking email every 15 minutes
#6 – Checking social media every 15 minutes
#7 – Shiny Object Syndrome — Are you constantly trying the newest marketing method, buying the next big thing, changing what you offer, or worse yet changing your entire business model?
So do you spend time each day on any of these? A lot of times we can really get lost in these types of activities but here is the bad news – they're not income-producing activities.
Here are the 7 things that you should be focused on to make more money:
#1 – 15 minutes of outbound calls. The goal of doing these calls is to set appointments. They should be really short and direct.
#2 – Sales calls. They only count as a sales call if you make an offer.
#3 – Speak – In person, on a teleseminar or webinar, radio, etc. Or book a new speaking engagement.
#4 – Work with clients or on client projects.
#5 – Delegate more to your team
#6 – Be decisive, commit to a path, and stick to it.
#7 – Reward yourself for your success!
If I had to pick the most important one it's the sales calls. My guess would be that you don’t make enough of them. Now listen – I’m not talking about cold calls. I don’t believe in cold calls. You have plenty of people who you need to contact – those are at a minimum, warm leads. You probably have some hot leads as well.
So are you ready – are you willing to start focusing on money-making must-dos?
Outbound calls – curious, how do you keep these short and to the point? What do you generally see as the point of these – who are you connecting with and what are you connecting about? 🙂
