How often have you heard someone say, “I wish I were as successful as so and so. They seem to get all the lucky breaks.”
Truth be told, luck likely has very little to do with their success. Sure, they seem to be in the right place at the right time, but is that luck or is it strategic positioning?
More than likely it is very strategic positioning. If you want to be as successful as the very people you most admire the #1 way to do so is find out what they do and then determine if you’re willing to get in the game at that level.
The caveat is; willing to get in the game at that level. Are you willing to invest the time, money and resources to achieve what you say you want? Are you willing to learn what you need to learn? Are you willing to invest in the mentors you need? Are you willing to attend conferences which take you away from home for extended periods of time?
Whatever it is that needs to be done… are you willing to do it?
Saying “yes” and putting skin in the game are two very different conversations. If you want to succeed at the level of the people you most admire, it’s likely you have to play at a completely different level than you currently are.
Is it worth it? Only you can answer this based on what you define success to be.
