How do you connect with your client? I mean really connect one on one.  Not how do you reach them online or find them in a community but how do you connect with them personally.

I recently heard Suzanne Evans say that “we should make our mess our message.”  Stop and think about that.  I have spent a lot of time lately thinking about what she said and had a mini AhHa moment.

Relationship Marketing Is All About Your Mess

Profound isn't it!  What do you think I mean?  It's pretty simple. To build a trusting relationship with someone you have to find common ground and respect.  If you can learn to do that with prospective clients you turn them into pre-qualified clients.

I know you have heard me say it over and over but the process of relationship marketing is simply for your prospect to know you, like you, trust you and then at that point it becomes much easier for them to see themselves working with you or buying from you.

What is it in your story that you have been hiding that you can bring out that will be a great part of your message – something that will inspire people to connect with you?  What is it that you might be afraid to tell others because you don't know what they will think.

Mine is probably that for the first 30 years of my life I was terribly shy and had absolutely no self-esteem.  Anyone who knows me now knows that I have over come those obstacles in my life.  However, if I would tell people about those issues in my life they might connect with me better.

I think our perfect clients are those people who see some of us in them.  So maybe there are potential clients out there that look at me on stage as powerful and all together when really I know exactly how it feels to not be powerful and all together.  Maybe they could connect better if I shared my mess.
