There sure is a lot of buzz going on about Google Plus these days. Is it going to be the Facebook killer? Is Google Plus going to take out Skype? What do you think? Are you using it?
I'll be real honest – I have played around on it a little but like all things it takes a bit to get used to it and I just can't seem to remember to go there every day. I am sure that will come around but it sure doesn't seem to be cutting into my Facebook addiction just yet.
I can tell you that there are benefits of it that I like – the clean cut open feel. It's not cluttered at all and I like that. But there are still parts that I find to be very interesting like the fact that I can add you to my circle because I want you to see certain info – does that mean you see it. You don't have control over whether someone sends you info. I don't know who is really seeing what.
So I went to my trusted source for information – Youtube – to find out more about Google+. After watching about 15 videos I finally found one that I thought was worth sharing.
What did you think? Pretty good explanation. So the question is do you think Google+ will be a major player. My answer is yes! Simply because they have super SEO power and they have the ability to pull so many things that you are probably already using right into Google+ – Google Maps, GMail, Google Search and the list goes on and on. I think it will be really interesting to see how it plays out.
I’ve got an account, and I’ve shared sharing some there, but I need to get more active. I do agree it’s going to be BIG.
Great post, Michele! You hit the mark with your video selection – I learned a lot more from that video that I have with my own “tinkering”. Thank you for sharing. I agree with you that Google + will become a major player in social networking. I look forward to hearing more in the future about your thoughts on how it will fit into a successful social networking strategy.
I have a google+ account. I haven’t used it. I sent out a few invites but have had no response. Even after watching this video, I still don’t get it.
Thanks
Excellent video choice, Michele. The presenter gave such a coherent explanation in a short time. But the final statement he made says it all for me: “If you’re not already overwhelmed by having to manage your connections in Facebook (etc), it’s really worth a try…”
Sorry, I’m already in ADD overwhelm. Does the world really NEED another social media service? Is there anyone who’s active in the “Big 3” saying: “Darn, I’ve been on Facebook all day, and still have extra time on my hands, I wish there was another social media site I can spend a few more hours on!”?
OK, I’m off to write in my blog now. The one I started months ago and still forget to write in. Your posts in my email serve as great reminders!
Thanks Michele! I’m sure it will grow on me…. just like my Droid!
It’s crazy how much info they have….
