What does it mean to you when you hear the words “Present to the Experience of Financial Abundance“? Does it sound great but maybe still leave you with a hollow feeling? Maybe it is so profound that you know you should understand but just can't seem to wrap your brain around it? Well tighten your seat belt – this isn't going to be my usual post.
Recently I was blessed to participate in a 2 day Unpainted Picture workshop led by Belanie Dishong, the founder of Live At Choice. Through Belanies' programs I have been able to really understand why I act and react the way I do in life and business but what I discovered during this workshop was life changing.
I have spent my whole life reaching for, grabbing for, chasing after, outlining and defining “financial abundance”!
However, I have always felt like it eluded me. Yes, I built and sold a multi-million dollar trucking company but I did it with my family so that didn't count. Yes, my children's college educations are completely paid for but they aren't going to an ivy league school so that doesn't count. Yes, Decisive Minds brought in almost $200K in 2012 but I spent it all so that doesn't count. Have you ever accomplished great things only to diminish their importance?
Here is the ah-ha: It's not the financial abundance at all that I am searching for – it is the experience of the financial abundance. It is the feelings, the sensations, I get when I am present to the financial abundance. For me that feeling is pure joy – I envision a woman who is light-hearted, happy, joyful, carefree and successful and as I say that, I can feel the joy in myself. I can't help but smile. Now as I move forward I want to stay aware and present to those feelings.
Matthew 21:22 says “And all things, whatever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.” We have all heard it before – ask, believe, receive – but how do we really believe before seeing it. The answer – by being able to experience the feeling of having it. Whatever the “it” might be for you – financial abundance, a loving marriage, a full coaching practice – if you can find the place to be present to the experience of having it, it can be yours.
What does all this mean?
It means that yes, I did build a multi-million dollar trucking company with my family that we sold in 2007 and I am joyful that the money from that sale has supported me and my family for the past 8 years and will continue to for some time. Yes, my kids college educations are paid in full and I am joyful knowing that they will not start their adult lives in debt. Yes, Decisive Minds brought in almost $200K in cash in 2012 and I am excited that I was able to reinvest that money into the business to travel, to make it grow and to further my education. More than that it is amazing how many things I can see around me that are truly financial abundance.
Don't get me wrong, I still have to plan and take action in order to accomplish my dream of building a multi-million dollar business and buying a new home and a rockin RV but now that I understand how to “believe” it – I can “receive” it.
Daily I am living “Present to the Experience of Financial Abundance.” What are you living present to the experience of?
I love this post, Michele. Definitely rings true for me…This mindset/perspective shift is something I’ve had to work really hard on personally. The first step is awareness and I have no doubt you’ve touched some people with your honesty:)
