Have you signed up for the Ultimate Blog Challenge yet? With all the changes constantly happening in social media (just in the past week we’ve had major changes on Facebook and Google+ went public), it is more important than ever to “tend to your own garden” and concentrate on the things you do control. Creating quality content on your blog is always a winning strategy no matter what is happening with your favorite social media tools.
Why aren’t you blogging more? Most likely, you haven’t gotten into the habit, or maybe you feel like you don’t have time to write everyday? Or, is it that you feel like you are talking and nobody is listening. Well, I have good news for you. The Ultimate Blog Challenge is here to help you create a habit of sharing great content with your audience — and through the power of social media – expose your blog to hundreds of new readers. We even have some teleseminars and webinars and helpful prompts to get you started writing.
The Blog Challenge is set up to make this oh so easy for you… here are three quick hints on how to use the Challenge to make a quantum leap in your business in October.
1. You don’t need to create all of the content you post on your blog. If you see an interesting video or a thoughtful blog post — share it. (See my 10 minute blog post post for more information on how to do that). To make this not cheating – you need to add 100 words or so at the top explaining to your audience why you thought the post was relevant.
2. Create a plan. One of the easiest ways to increase your blogging frequency is to create an editorial calendar. For example, on Mondays post about marketing, on Wednesday, share videos, maybe cap off the week with a summary of posts you’ve seen and liked from other participants on Fridays. Get out a spreadsheet and plan out your month. You can be flexible – but at least you’ll have a plan.
3. Collaborate. A few times a week – go to Twitter and search for #blogboost. Those are tweets from other Blog Challenge participants. Re-tweet them. Go to the posts and leave comments. The more you interact – the better connections you’ll make.
Leave me a comment and let me know your favorite blogging strategies.
Hi Michele,
I have a plan to get back into blogging after almost 3 months of being out of action and use this challenge to share my healing journey with the world and a series of self-love prescription paintings, the a-z of Gratitude and you have just reminded me to set up my editorial calendar thanks.
Awesome Suzie – Great to have you back with us. It is so easy to get a little sidetracked and let our blogs go. My blog has definitely been needing a little TLC. :))
Great to have you with us Shanna – I am going to check out your blog now.
I took advantage of this challenge for several reasons, with the main ones being –
1) Getting more readers to what is now my main blog at http://localmarketingonlineportstlucie.com. Long name but my town has three words 🙂
2) Connecting with other bloggers, reading their posts, and commenting and/or retweeting; as well as getting to know persons I haven’t connected with before for possibly JVs.
3) Turning my posts into two products at the end of the Challenge. Feedback from readers will give me an idea if there’s interest in either topic or the direction I should take my topics.
Thanks for putting this together, Michele and Michelle.
